Gear up in your red, white and blue and be festive this 4th of July in Park City. Small town Independence Day celebrations are just the best with no shortage of parades, fireworks, music, fun runs, pancakes and the 84th annual Oakley Rodeo!

Park City goes big for the 4th with celebrations all over town, starting with Park City Mountain’s Canyons Village 3rd of July Celebration & Fireworks. The complimentary fun for all ages starts at 5:00pm with live music and activities including caricature artists, chalk art, hula hoops and face painting. The excitement continues early on the 4th with the 2019 4th of July 5K Mountain Run; go to 5K Fun Run to pre-register.  Who doesn’t love pancakes in the park? Starting at 7:00am the Park City Rotary Club hosts their annual pancake breakfast in City Park. Festivities in City Park continue throughout the day with rugby games, live music, food, beer garden and kids’ activities. At 10:45am you’ll want to be near Main Street for the 30th anniversary of the 419th Fighter Wing from Hill Air Force Base’s goose-bump inducing F-35 flyover. Park City’s wildly popular 4th of July Parade follows at 11:00am.

The party continues at Park City Mountain Village with more complimentary family-friendly activities and music, starting at 3:00pm. There’s barbecue and beverages and live music from Memphis McCool at 5:00pm and The Soulistics at 7:30pm. The  Annual Oakley Rodeo & 4th of July Celebration does it right. Pro rodeo? Check – four nights of bull riding, steer wrestling, bucking broncos and all the rest. Parade? Check – 10:00am on July 4th. Fireworks? Yes – every night after the rodeo! There’s also a 5K Fun Run, a Patriotic Program and Barbecue, a Junior Rodeo and a Softball Tournament. Speaking of parties, The Park City Area Restaurant Association (PCARA) welcomes the return of its annual summer cocktail contest. Bartenders and mixologists from around town submit their unique and innovative recipes and compete for a cash prize and bragging rights. Starting July 1, beverage connoisseurs will have four weeks to sample the drinks at participating PCARA restaurants and then vote online for their favorites. Summer Cocktail Contest

Music plays a big role in the festivities on into the weekend with Deer Valley® Music Festival’s July 5th Patriotic Celebration with Broadway’s Hugh Panaro and Bravo Broadway Life Is A Cabaret on July 6th. Deer Valley Music Festival  On July 7th the Park City Institute’s 2019 St. Regis Big Stars Bright Nights Concert Series features Brothers Osborne Park City Institute. Mountain Town Music has an impressive lineup of free shows around town, as well.

The weekend closes out with Park Silly Sunday Market on Main Street. Admission is free to this weekly event. Live music on multiple stages and strolling performers, food, beverages, farmers market, kids activities and many unique booths with art, jewelry, crafts and clothing.

It’s safe to assume that parking is limited at all venues throughout the weekend. Plan ahead to carpool, take the bus, walk or ride a bike! For bus stops and schedules go to Park City Transit. You can rent a bike from White Pine Touring, or join Summit Bike Share and try out the e-bikes.
