Park City Winter Events 2018-19

Even before the first snowflake flies, Park City’s Winter 2018/2019 season is shaping up to be full of world class entertainment options. In addition to the annual Sundance Film Festival in January and the FIS World Championships in February, each month offers unique and exciting events.

In November the Utah Olympic hosts the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation’s North America Cup November 18 – 21. Showcasing athletes from around the world, the daily bobsled and skeleton competitions are free to the public.

The 2018-2019 ski season opens at Park City Mountain on Wednesday, November 21!

December is packed full of festivities.

Deer Valley Resort opens its slopes on Saturday, December 8.

Park City Institute presents Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author Bob Woodward at a special event on Sunday, December 16. Celebrate the season at Snowfest. Running December 16 to 31, Park City Mountain Village and Canyons Village offers free live music and activities – including ice sculptures, s’mores roasting and more – every single day! Park City’s iconic Egyptian Theater has an exciting line up of concerts and event for the whole family including James and the Giant Peach, Park City’s Holiday Spectacular and Community Sing-A-Long, and Christmas with the Celts. Celebrate Christmas with Emmy award-winning Kurt Bestor, the holiday week with Queen Nation, a Queen tribute band, and ring in the New Year with Who’s Bad? The Ultimate Michael Jackson Tribute. January is again the month of great ski conditions and the Sundance Film Festival.

In February, the world’s best snowboard, freeski and freestyle athletes will compete for 10 days for the International Ski Federation’s (FIS) World Championships. For a full schedule of events and locations: FIS 2019 World Cup

In March get your groove on at Spring Gruv. Held at Park City Mountain Village and Canyons Village March 23 – April 7. This 12th annual celebration of spring includes huge, free concerts in the two villages, as well as the 23rd Annual Pond Skimming Contest! Intended to be rowdy, the Pond Skimming Contest is one of Park City’s most popular parties. Contestants must dress in costume as they attempt to cross a 100-foot pond on skis or a snowboard. As the snow starts to melt and resorts finish out the ski season in April, Park City keeps the fun going. Ballet West performs classical routines and bold new works at DeJoria Center on April 6. And check out the Egyptian’s Jethro Tull – 50th Anniversary Tour April 4-7, showcasing Tull’s music history with some original members and surprise guests.
