Park City Lodging recognized as Green Business leader Park City Lodging, Inc.,

Park City’s premier provider of vacation rental and home management services, is very pleased to announce that it has recently received two more prestigious awards for its efforts in fulfilling its commitment to the environment. Earlier this year Recycle Utah named Park City Lodging its Green Business of the Year; this month Utah Business honored the company with a 2018 Green Business Award and Recycling Coalition of Utah named it Thomas A Martin Business Recycler of the Year.

Utah Business magazine annually reviews nominations for Green Business Leadership awards to find and recognize “Champions who promote and communicate sustainable practices in their businesses and communities”. Park City Lodging, along with the other honorees, is featured in an article published in the October 2018 issue of Utah Business magazine, as well as honored at its event on October 25th.

Recycling Coalition of Utah, the State of Utah’s official resource on recycling, is a coalition of municipalities, businesses, institutions and individuals committed to improving recycling in Utah. Its annual Thomas A Martin award is given to a private sector organization who goes above and beyond in their recycling efforts.

“We’re really humbled and honored by this recognition. While it’s great to get these awards, it’s not why we do it. We genuinely care about our community and our planet and we hope that our efforts and initiatives will resonate with others and motivate them to take steps towards sustainability, as well,” said Rhonda Sideris, President and Owner.

Since its start in 1984, Park City Lodging has passionately embraced social responsibility and sustainability as core values. Their current sustainability culture started with recycling and encouraging guests to reuse towels to conserve water and power in its home vacation rentals. Those and other initiatives have expanded and now include installing chemical automation systems in hot tubs to conserve water, reusable grocery bags and a bulk amenity program to limit single use plastic packaging, donating old linens to shelters, and a strict no idle policy for its company vehicles. In 2016 the company completed construction and moved into its new green office building, complete with 52 solar panels, an organic rooftop garden, and an innovative laundry system to save chemicals, water, and energy, as well as recycled bamboo exterior decking, and an employee shower to encourage bike travel.

Community engagement is an important part of Park City Lodging’s culture. Recycle Utah’s Green Business Program has been a source of ideas and motivation, and employees are encouraged to bring new green ideas to the table and supported in their involvement in local programs and projects that give back.

Park City Lodging’s green culture and influence has spread beyond the local community and into the property management industry. As a result of Sideris’s long-standing involvement in the Vacation Rental Management Association (VRMA) she was invited to help with an international certification program to lend professionalism to property management. The program included a green certification component at her insistence. Sideris and her daughter, Park City Lodging’s International Sales Manager Heleena Sideris, authored the program to demonstrate that sustainable business practices are a necessary component in successful property management.
