A Guide to Park City Snowboarding

Whether you’re a veteran rider chasing thrills or a newbie looking to hop on a board for the first time, Park City snowboarding has something to fit every interest. With two great resorts located only a few miles apart, there is no better place to come for your snowboarding vacation than Park City, Utah.

Park City Snowboarding Resorts

Park City Mountain Resort and Canyons Resort offer snowboarders more than 7,000 acres of powder-covered terrain (note: snowboarding is not permitted at Deer Valley Resort).

Both Park City and Canyons have all of the features that snowboarders are looking for, but each offers its own unique experience. PCMR is the home to terrain parks and a halfpipe known around the world, while Canyons is a great place to escape the lines on a powder day. When you come to town for some Park City snowboarding, try them both – you won’t be disappointed!

Park City Halfpipe and Terrain Parks

Snowboarders flock to Park City Mountain Resort to ride its famous halfpipe and terrain parks, both rated as the best in the country by TransWorld SNOWboarding.

The Eagle Super Pipe was the venue for the first-ever Olympic halfpipe competition in 2002 and continues to host major competitions today, including the Freestyle World Championships every February. With a pair of monstrous 22-foot walls, the Eagle Super Pipe is a mecca of Park City snowboarding.

In addition to the halfpipe, PCMR boasts a pair of terrain parks designed to fit the needs of snowboarders of all ability levels. The Three Kings Terrain Park is a slopestyle course that features three major jumps ranging from 25 feet to an epic 45 feet, as well as more than 20 different jibs, offering intermediate to expert riders the chance to show off their tricks. The Ridge Terrain Park offers medium-sized boxes and rails, giving beginners a chance to get their first park experiences in a laid-back environment.

Park City Snowboarding Lessons

Both Park City Mountain Resort and Canyons Resort offer lessons for riders of all ages and ability levels. If it’s your first time on a snowboard, take one of the beginner lessons at either resort to learn the basic skills of snowboarding.

If you’re an advanced rider looking to get acquainted with terrain parks or learn some new tricks, try Park City’s half-day Snowboard Workshops that will teach you how to ride the pipe, pump a transition or get air off of a kicker. You’ll be showing off for your friends in no time!

Epic Pass

If your Park City snowboarding trip is going to include at least six days on the mountain, look into the Epic Season Pass, which includes unlimited riding all season at Park City Mountain Resort and Canyons Resort, as well as a number of other well-known resorts in the West.

The Epic Pass pays for itself in just over five days – perfect for those week-long vacations! Get your Epic Pass and head straight to the mountain every day for some Park City snowboarding – no more waiting in lift ticket lines!
