Sometimes overshadowed by its well-known neighbors Park City Mountain and Deer Valley, Canyons Ski Resort features the most skiable terrain in Park City – 4,000 acres worth – and recent improvements by new operator Vail Resorts have added a number of benefits for skiers and snowboarders alike. As you plan your trip to Park City, plan on spending a couple days at Canyons Ski Resort!
Our Favorite Spots at Canyons Ski Resort
With 182 trails spread over 4,000 acres, planning a visit to Canyons Ski Resort can seem like a daunting task. Here are a few of our recommendations on places to check out at Park City’s biggest resort.
- Tombstone Express: Start your day by riding the Red Pine Gondola up from the base area and heading over to the Tombstone Express. This high-speed lift services blue trails like Another World that are perfect for a morning warmup.
- Dreamscape & Dreamcatcher Lifts: As the day continues, make your way over to the Dreamscape and Dreamcatcher lifts. These two lifts that serve Dream Peak never have lines and provide access to a mix of blue and black terrain as well as stunning views.
- Sun Peak and Super Condor Expresses: Enjoy the sun-soaked wide open expanse of Eclipse or brave the moguls on the appropriately named Massacre. For a couple of long blue cruisers, ride the Super Condor Express and speed down Boa and Apex Ridge.
- Ninety-Nine 90 Express: Expert skiers will not want to miss Canyons Ski Resort’s Ninety-Nine 90 Express, so named for its trip up the area’s tallest peak – 9,990 feet above sea level. Pick your way through the moguls of 94 Turns or check out some of the gladed trails. There’s no shortage of bumps, steeps and trees off of this expert lift.
Where to Eat at Canyons Resort
Canyons Ski Resort offers a wide variety of dining options, ranging from typical ski resort fare to upscale restaurants both on the mountain and off. For on-mountain cafeteria-style dining, try the Sun Lodge, which usually has smaller crowds than the Red Pine Lodge.
For table service and a more upscale menu, visit Lookout Cabin, which offers beautiful views of the Wastch Range. When the ski day is over, check out The Farm at the Canyons Ski Resort base area which offers made-from-scratch, sustainably-raised fare, sourced locally. Their après ski menu is a great way to refuel after a long day on the slopes.
New in 2015: Canyons Ski Resort to Merge with Park City Mountain
It’s an exciting time in Park City after the announcement last week that starting with the 2015-16 ski season, Canyons Ski Resort and Park City Mountain will be connected by a gondola and operate as one resort. The connection will create the country’s biggest ski area at over 7,300 acres.
The move is expected to be a boon to Park City tourism and will make our amazing ski experience even better. For Park City Lodging customers, it means that you can stay at our properties at either Canyons Ski Resort or Park City Mountain and still get easy access to both of their terrain!
