With its three great resorts and thousands of acres of amazing snow, Park City has become the home base for a number of competitive skiers and snowboarders of all ages. One of the most prominent training clubs is the Park City Snowboard Team, which attracts some of the most talented up-and-coming snowboarders in the country to Park City each year.
The Park City Snowboard Team offers a number of different programs for children starting at age 9, with a goal of developing their freestyle snowboarding skills and eventually preparing them for local, regional and even national competitions.

Park City Snowboard Team Programs
Full-Time Program: This program is for riders ages 13+ committed to taking their riding to the next level. There is a focus on skill development, and if desired, improvement to compete at local, regional and national competitions.
Competition Team: For riders ages 12+ with advanced freestyle skills, this program focuses on perfecting tricks and runs for use in competitions. Riders in this program compete in local/regional events and are also introduced to national events when time allows.
Junior Competition Program: This program is for riders ages 9-13 with freestyle fundamentals who want to reach the next level. The focus is one developing advanced skills to become great all-around riders. Athletes are encouraged to compete locally with the possibility of qualifying for nationals.
Development Team: For ages 9+, this program is for riders who want to develop their freestyle skills all over the mountain. The focus is on building skills and having fun – there is no pressure to compete!
King of the Wasatch Competition
One event that the Park City Snowboard Team includes on its calendar every year is the famed King of the Wasatch competition at Park City Mountain Resort.
Each year riders from around the USASA Big Mountain West and Intermountain Divisions come together at PCMR for a weekend of competitions in slopestyle, rail jam and halfpipe events.
Even for the non-competitive riders, this is a great opportunity to come out and watch some of the up-and-comers in the sport. The 2015 King of the Wasatch competition was held Jan. 15-18 – make sure to mark your calendar for the 2016 edition.
