The Park City Nordic Ski Club offers programs for cross country skiing and Nordic ski jumping for all ages and abilities.
Nordic Skiing is any skiing discipline that involves the use of a ski binding where only the toe is attached. This includes Cross-Country Skiing, Telemark Skiing and Ski Jumping. Cross-country skiing is one of the healthiest activities available, using every major muscle group, and it’s a fine activity for all ages. The town of Park City is a nordic playground surrounded by the picturesque mountains of the Wasatch Range and offers miles of trail systems. White Pine Touring operates a 20K cross-country ski center in the heart of Park City for skate and classic skiing. The Center offers a wide range of lessons as well, whether you’re a beginner looking to enjoy a new sport, or an experienced Nordic enthusiast wanting to refine your skills. Round Valley hosts 25K of groomed trails for both classic and skate skiing. The Round Valley area is conveniently located right in Park City and consists of 700 acres of protected open space with plenty of opportunity to witness local wildlife. Round Valley trails are free to the public and are open from dawn to dusk. For trail maps and more information click here.
Basin Recreation packs and grooms 16 miles of connected trails throughout the Park City area every winter. The groomed trails are free to use and are open from dawn to dusk. The trails run from the Newpark Field House at Kimball Junction all the way into the heart of Park City. This beautiful trail system runs alongside the Swaner Nature Preserve, through the historic Wallen Farm, across narrow bridges, and through the Willow Creek open space. Basin Recreation also has a 5K cross-country skiing trail near the Utah Olympic Park with a variety of options on how to ski the loop. A local favorite, the “Rail Trail” extends from Bonanza Drive in Park City all the way to Wanship, about 17 miles away. This trail offers an additional 10-20K of groomed trail which connects directly into the Round Valley trail system. The Rail Trail is free to use and open to the public.
The Mountain Dell Golf Course, located in Parley’s Canyon 12 miles west of Park City, transforms itself into a world-class Nordic skiing destination each winter. With 10K of groomed trails and 5 distinct loops varying in difficulty from easy to challenging, there is plenty of terrain to explore. Soldier Hollow Cross-Country Ski Resort rests above the beautiful and quaint town of Midway, UT only 21 miles from Park City. Soldier Hollow enjoys stunning views of open space alongside the Wasatch Mountain State Park. Soldier Hollow was a major venue during the 2002 Winter Olympics and still boasts Olympic Nordic tracks as well as trails for beginners.
