We’ll let you in on a well kept secret about golf in Utah. It’s a hidden gem. There is nothing quite as impressive as golfing in the mountains — driving that ball and glancing up to see an expanse of snowy peaks rising thousands of feet into the air. The golf courses near Park City rival the best of resort towns in terms of maintenance, difficulty and scenic beauty. In fact, Soldier Hollow stood up to rigorous selection criteria to host the USGA Nationals in 2012. But unlike other resort towns, it costs about 1/3 the price to golf near Park City, and that doesn’t include the senior discount. With 7 gorgeous, 18 hole, public courses within a 21 mile radius, you can easily plan to hit them all during your stay. Upon booking your lodging reservation, let our destination specialists know you are interested in golf and we will check on special offers and advance reservations options that periodically become available.
At most courses Park City Lodging, Inc.’s concierge can book your golf reservation 30 days out adding a huge benefit to customers and owners.
Soldier Hollow Golf Course
Soldier Hollow is one of the newest Utah golf destinations. Offering a championship, 36-hole complex built on the mountainside above Midway, this course is only 21 miles from Park City. A part of Wasatch Mountain State Park, Soldier Hollow was a major venue during the 2002 Winter Olympics. Additionally, it played host to the USGA Nationals in 2012. Two 18- hole courses named the Gold and Silver courses offer challenging play and amazing views of the Heber Valley.
The Gold Course is laid out at the highest elevation of the complex offering stunning views of the Heber Valley below. The Gold Course is a typical foothills course with significant elevation change throughout the course and dramatic elevation changes within each hole. The Silver Course is the tamer of the two. The Silver Course has slightly shorter and wider fairways, while the Gold Course is the proclaimed “Championship” course with narrower, more undulating fairways, tee shots requiring longer carry and trickier greens. A 7 day advanced reservation is required to play both courses.
