The town of Park City sits at an elevation of 6980’ above sea level. This is significantly higher than most visitors are used to. Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your vacation in our high altitude playground:
1) Drink as much water as you can. The dry climate and high altitude will leave you dehydrated much quicker than you are used to. This can lead to unpleasant headaches if you don’t stay on top of it.
2) Watch your alcohol intake. Despite the
Utah liquor laws, some folks get carried away their first couple nights and pay the price the next day. Alcohol has a greater effect at this elevation, so take it easy and remember to drink plenty of water.
3) Use Sunscreen. The air is thinner up here, and the sun’s rays more intense. Be sure to use a healthy dose of sunscreen and apply it often to prevent your skin from getting burned.
4) Wear Sunglasses. You might think everyone walking around town is just trying to be cool, but sunglasses are important for protecting your eyes from the intensity of the sun’s rays at this elevation.
