Located in the heart of Summit County, Park City sits only 32 miles from Utah's larger metropolitan area, Salt Lake City. Park City is most well known for the abundance of
outdoor activities in the area, with skiing and snowboarding being the most popular in winter, along with biking, hiking, fishing and more in the summer.
Park City was
founded by miners and fortune seeking adventurers of the late 1800's, a trait it shares with many of the popular mountain towns in the United States. Silver ore was found throughout the three mountain peaks that now make up some of the most popular ski resorts in the country. As the mining boom settled and miners moved on to new areas in search of their fortune, Park City became a meek town. Not until the 1980's did Park City begin to see a rebound as tourists and mountain enthusiasts flocked back to this small valley in the Wasatch Mountains.
Park City and the surrounding Wasatch Mountains are gorgeous year-round. This is the ideal outdoor playground for you and your family, friends, or colleagues! Deer Valley, The Canyons and Park City condos and private luxury home rentals provide the perfect vacation lodging and outdoor playground; you will be wishing the experience would never end! Three spectacular ski resorts surround the town: Deer Valley, Park City, and The Canyons Resorts offer three distinct mountain experiences with fabulous Utah scenery, and snowboard or ski terrain for all ability levels. In spring, summer, and fall there are many great adventures to enjoy, including hiking, biking, sports, music, fishing and golfing. The restaurants and nightlife are some of the best you'll find anywhere.
This valley is now home to three world-class ski resorts:
Park City Mountain Resort,
Deer Valley Resort and
The Canyons Resort. Each offers a good variety of real estate and
vacation rentals, from luxurious homes that can accommodate a family or group vacation to affordable condo's and chalets perfect for a couple's get-a-way. In 1995 Park City struck fortune once again and gained the bid to host the 2002 Winter Olympics. The majority of the events were held at the Park City and Deer Valley, and the changes made in preparation of the games added a modern look and feel to each resort in Park City.
As Park City continues to grow as a premier ski town, the variety of activities and events grows as well. The downtown area of Park City offers a perfect mix of
hip night clubs and
restaurants, with excellent lodging options. There is a wide assortment of restaurants and clubs that offer live music and unique food on a nightly basis. Every January, our town is host to the largest independent film festival in the country,
The Sundance Film Festival. For nearly two weeks, historic Main Street is filled with well known celebrities and respected players of the film industry, along with thousands of eager filmgoers and partiers. Be sure to buy your tickets early to Sundance, as it is a guaranteed sell-out every year. There are also a number of excellent
