Park City Summer Activities ~ Hiking Trails

Park City is surrounded by beautiful mountains that offer incredible hiking opportunities, whether you want to climb a peak or just stroll through an alpine meadow. There are over 150 miles of public trails close to town allowing you to explore a different one each time you go out. The ski areas offer hiking trails that can be accessed by their lifts in the summer, giving a unique opportunity to explore their high alpine environments in the warmer months.
The Nobletts Creek Log Hollow trail goes through two small canyons. You’ll encounter small streams, beautiful aspen groves and grassy meadows along the way. Be sure to check out the views from the small knoll before returning back to the trail head.
The Row Bench trail is a little known secret that will take you through dense stands of aspen trees to excellent views of Daniels Canyon and the surrounding areas. This is a great hike in the fall when the aspen leaves are changing colors.
Unita Mountains
The Uintas are located just a short distance from town, and they contain the most extensive wilderness area (500,000 acres) in the lower 48 states. These rugged mountains offer a more contiguous area above tree line than most other ranges in the US. Numerous lakes dot the landscape here and offer excellent trout fishing opportunities. If you are looking for day hikes, then head to the western part of the range. Most of the trails here are relatively easy to navigate and many summits are within reach. The wilderness part of the range offers remote backpacking adventures in a rugged landscape for those looking to get away from it all. Most of the peaks here can’t be done in one day, but all of the peaks over 13,000’ in Utah are located in this part of the range. The eastern section of the range holds many summits that are easily accessed in a day, and while many of the trails aren’t marked, the routes are often easy to follow.
Other good hiking areas include Kings Peak, Tokewanna Peak and Timpanogos.
