Alta is a famous Utah ski destination.  It is a world-class ski resort within driving distance from your Park City vacation rental.  The mountain is famous for its spectacular deep powder, varied terrain, and amazing mountain scenery.  Although renowned for being one of the best places on earth for expert skiing, Alta does feature plenty of beautiful intermediate courses from all lifts.  They also offer a great beginner’s lesson program with ample “green” runs.  With over 2,200 acres of skiable terrain spread over 116 runs, there are plenty of options and open space for everyone.  You can buy a joint lift ticket for Alta and Snowbird:  the two incredible resorts share a ridge line so you can go through a gate between the two resorts at the top of the lifts.

Alta features quality dining options, back country tours, and superb ski lessons.  There are also a variety of activities such as shopping, spas, and lodge activities for non-skiers. 

The mountain is typically open from Thanksgiving through the middle of April, and runs the lifts from 9:15am to 4:30pm daily. 

Transportation from Park City:  There are paid shuttle services if you want to leave the mountain driving to experienced locals.  The drive is an hour or less (depending on road conditions) from Park City and is located in Little Cottonwood Canyon.
