Just 10 minutes from Park City, the Provo River is the premier fly fishing destination in the area, sporting browns, rainbows, cutthroats and even the occasional brookie. Known throughout the West for its stretches of Blue Ribbon fishing, the river consists of three sections, each offering unique opportunities to anglers of all abilities. The average fish size ranges from 12-18 inches, with some larger hogs lurking in the bigger pools.
Starting high in the Uinta mountains, the Upper Provo offers great fishing for cutthroats and brook trout in the warm summer months. This section runs from the headwaters to the Jordanelle Reservoir near Heber City. The Middle Provo continues on from here as a tail water offering excellent dry fly fishing opportunities. After flowing into Deer Creek Reservoir, the Lower Provo is a great fishery with excellent populations of browns, rainbows and cutthroats. The river ends its journey at Utah Lake near the city of Provo.
Aside from the main attraction of the Provo, the Weber River, Duchesne River, Currant Creek and the Strawberry River offer other fly fishing opportunities close to Park City.
Come see why this is considered by some to be the best kept secret in Utah!
