PARK CITY, UTAH, May 20, 2015 -- Park City Lodging, Inc. broke ground on its new office building in Prospector Square, designed with energy efficiency and a minimal footprint in mind. The 9,800 square foot, 3 story building will allow this property management company to house all departments under one roof. Rhonda Sideris, founder and president, is committed to eco-friendly living in both her personal and professional life and takes great pride in her company’s sustainability programs. This new building, complete with a guest reception desk, was designed by Gigaplex Architects, utilizing green initiatives.

The building is designed to harness as much usable, comfortable, natural light as possible to reduce lighting and heating needs, and photovoltaics, installed on the roof, will offset power consumption. The laundry facility will utilize an ozonator to reduce water consumption and the excess dryer heat will supplement the total building heating needs. High efficiency HVAC and windows will be used to decrease energy consumption and the carbon footprint. All lighting will adhere to new building standards which require compact fluorescent bulbs and fixtures. The building design includes four employee housing apartments, and a co-op garden on the roof will be managed by tenants, staff and their families.

Park City Lodging, Inc.’s commitment to being an eco-friendly company includes initiatives and policies that straddle all departments and start with the very first guest touch-point. “We are continually looking for additional ways to be green,” cites Ms. Sideris. “When guests call to make a reservation, we encourage them to use our transportation service partners to shuttle from the airport and then to hop on our free town bus system to get around during their stay.” Staff employ a “no idle” policy as they manage properties. These efforts help to keep our emissions down in Park City.

Upon check-in, guests receive a reusable, cloth grocery bag to use throughout their stay and take home with them for continued use. Each week, Curbside Recycling picks up boxes, plastic, aluminum and waste paper to take to the recycling center for processing. Water filtration systems for staff drinking water have been installed, eliminating weekly water delivery, which saves on plastic containers and the fuel/carbon footprint required to haul containers each week.

In room, guest toiletry products like shampoos, conditioner, soaps and lotions are supplied in containers that are either made from recycled materials or paper-based and biodegradable. All cleaning products used by the housekeeping staff are biodegradable. Park City Lodging, Inc. also supports non-profit organizations that are committed to sustainability, including the 1% for Open Space program. Ms. Sideris and her staff are excited about their new green building and embracing new eco-friendly initiatives as the company continues to grow.
