Deer Valley continues to host the renowned Park City Jazz Festival.  Saturday, August 22 features a splendid array of musicians.  There is ample General Admission seating on the lawn above the Snow Park Lodge.  The gate opens at 2:30 p.m., and performances start at 3:30 p.m.  Saturday’s performers include:  Little Big Band, John Flanders, the Park City All Stars with Nicholas Payton, Anna Wilson and the Jazz Your Azz Band and Pancho Sanchez.  One-day tickets are $35 for General Admission (to sit on the lawn).  Locals General Admission tickets are $20 and available in limited quantities to Summit or Wasatch county residents only.  Children 12 and under are free and may obtain their ticket the day of the show at the festival ticket window.  Come out and enjoy great music under the beautiful summer sun!

NBC’s Natalie Morales Gets Big Air at Utah’s Olympic Sports Park

Park City is home to many of the top US winter sports athletes, which is not too surprising considering that the US Ski and Snowboard teams are based in Park City, Utah!  NBC’s Today Show featured a nice segment this week in which Natalie Morales visited Park City to meet with some of the national team athletes, dance with them, and try a quick training session to take on the ski jumps at Utah’s Winter Sports Park.  Fortunately, beneath these huge jumps is a nice landing in an aerated pool (the airflow from the bottom of the pool makes the water landings less brutal on the legs and body).

NBC’s Natalie Morales Gets Big Air at Utah’s Olympic Sports Park

US ski legend and Park City locals’ favorite Picabo Street and her husband John Reeser welcomed their new baby boy on August 3. The couple’s second child, Dax Meyer Street Reeser, was born in Birmingham, Alabama. The 1998 Gold Medalist in the Super-G divides her time between homes in Birmingham, Alabama and Park City, Utah. While in Park City she skis the slopes of Park City Mountain Resort and other favorite Utah ski resorts. In addition to Gold and Silver medals in the Winter Olympic games, Picabo Street is also a two-time overall World Champion and one of the truly legendary US skiers.

We warmly congratulate Picabo and her husband on their new son and wish all of their family all the best.

When the moon is full over the mountains here it is a particular joy, especially when the moon is rising brilliantly while the sun is still setting.  In this photo the moon was appearing to the east while the setting sun behind us still illuminated clouds with beautiful orange colors.
